China is in the midst of a crackdown. Perhaps this explains the importance of freedom of speech, freedom of association and Religious Freedom. In spite of all our faults, the US is still the best damn country on the planet.

An interesting case now being litigated in federal court in Wisconsin. From West v. Kind (E.D. Wisc. July 31, 2018) : The plaintiff [Rufus West] alleges that in 1995 he embraced Islam. He states that Islamic law prohibits him from exposing his nakedness to anyone except his wife.

We previously discussed the crushing abuse and discrimination faced by Muslims in Myanmar . The Rohingya are denied basic rights and face continued violence in the country. While it was hard to imagine the abuse of these Muslims becoming any more extreme in the Buddhist nation, it just did.
